The Bench neighborhood is one of the most diverse neighborhoods in Boise with an eclectic mix of architecture and businesses. Boiseans love the Bench because of the variety of architectural options available for housing, including larger plots than is usually available in the North End. The affordability and easy access to areas around the Treasure Valley, including Boise State and the freeway, make the Bench a very desirable place to live!
The Boise Depot
It may be the crown jewel of the neighborhood today, when the Boise Depot was completed in 1925, residents were not really impressed with its location at the top of a muddy hill. It wasn’t until paved roads and streetcars made it more accessible that the Depot and the Bench itself grew in popularity.
The Depot no longer serves as a way station for traveling passengers but it’s still a very popular destination. It offers stunning panoramic views of Boise, the gorgeous Platt Gardens, and the historic Great Hall that can be rented from the City of Boise for events.
Crescent Rim Drive
Speaking of breathtaking views, Crescent Rim Drive is one of the most famous streets in Boise thanks to its position perched above Ann Morrison Park and downtown Boise. Located just down the street from the Boise Depot, Crescent Rim Drive has been a part of Boise’s history since it’s completion in the 1930s. Several homes line the drive, the Crescent Rim luxury condominiums might be the most recognizable.
