Skip the sad desk salad and grab your coworkers, it is time to enjoy a delicious lunch at one of the many amazing restaurants in downtown Boise. There is not enough room here to list out all of our favorite spots, but we have narrowed down the list to these few for you. Did we forget your favorite place to grab a noontime meal? Let us know in the comments!

Lemon Tree Co.

For those with specific dietary needs, Lemon Tree Co. is a perfect place to meet with friends. This charming sandwich shop offers options for meat lovers, vegetarians, and vegans. Lemon Tree Co. promises sandwiches with a twist. The restaurant’s menu provides evidence of this with offerings that range from the Toasted Fluffernutter with house-made peanut butter, bananas, and toasted Dandies marshmallows to the Massaman Curry Banh Mi that has roasted yams, spicy house-made peanut butter, cucumber, jalapeño, pickled carrot, daikon radish, and spicy curry aioli.

Lemon Tree Co. offers a “Family 4 Pack” on their to-go menu that goes directly to a family at the Ronald McDonald House. Order yourself a meal and then add on the Family 4 Pack to help one of the many families that stays at Ronald McDonald House while their child receives medical care.

Wild Root Cafe

Wild Root Cafe offers entrees for every meal, but with its large windows and spacious patio, this restaurant is an ideal lunch location. Tucked into 8th street among numerous restaurants and bars, Wild Root stands out for the quality, vegetarian food that it provides.

Here, patrons can choose from entrees such as a Rainbow sandwich that features herbed goat cheese and avocado, or a Brie Melt with apple compote. Most entrees allow for specialization, so the customer can choose whether they want tofu or meat. You do not want to miss out on Wild Root’s bone broth. The restaurant has both chicken and beef brone, with the option to add chicken or a soft-boiled egg if wanted.

The Funky Taco

The Funky Taco began as a food truck that Boiseans tracked through the streets with hopes of ordering delicious, unique tacos. Now that food truck is a spacious restaurant perched on the corner of 8th street and Bannock. It is a destination for live music, creative food, and refreshing drinks.

You are not going to find tacos like these anywhere else in the city. One example is the Thaico that has chicken thighs, thai curry, confit chicken skin, thai basil, watermelon radish, toasted sesame aioli, and asian slaw. Is your mouth watering yet? Next time you find yourself in downtown Boise, stop by this hip spot to grab a funky taco and you might catch some funky tunes at the same time.

Western Proper

If you truly want a unique lunch experience, then grab a table at Western Proper. Anyone who has visited Western Collective in Garden City will recognize the same kind of vibes at this new downtown spot. In between bites, you can play a parlor game, throw a strike, sing along to live music or sip a delicious drink. Western Proper is an all-day hangout place that occupies 10,500 square feet in downtown Boise. Patrons can enjoy a menu of upgraded pub fare that includes pizza, sandwiches, and salads.
