Craving a nice cup of coffee as the weather starts to get colder? Skip the Keurig and the Starbucks line, and head to a local coffee joint for your caffeine fix. Here are some of our favorites, both new and those that have been around for a minute!
Alchemist Coffee
Alchemist Coffee opened in April 2023 and features some innovative drinks, including chai and kombucha. The shop also makes its own coffee syrups and roasts its blends, providing some unique beverages you won’t be able to find anywhere else in the Boise area.
If you can’t make it to the shop, you can buy some of their blends online. Alchemist Coffee is located at 10650 W. Overland and off 27th St at 2701 W Stewart Ave and they also have a coffee truck that can be rented for any event you may be hosting.
Broadcast Coffee
This coffee shop is a small chain with a location in Boise. Other locations are in Seattle, but the Boise one is extra special as it faces the Cherie Buckner Webb Park which features plenty of outdoor seating and free WiFi.
The menu at Broadcast Coffee is a little smaller but with specialty drinks. They also have a rotating menu of seasonal drinks, one of which features yam as an ingredient at the moment. They also have great breakfast snacks and mimosas!
Broadcast Coffee is located at 1100 W. Idaho Street in Cherie Buckner Webb Park. It can be a little hard to find, but worth the search!
Janjou Pâtisserie
If you’re feeling a fancier cup of coffee and a treat, Janjou Pâtisserie is the place to go. It is encouraged to go early, especially on the weekends, as they can have sold out of their unique and handmade pastries.
If you want to ensure you get some food, you can pre-order for pick up 36 hours in advance. These pickup orders also allow you to skip the link, so you won’t have to wait out in the colder weather.
Along with pastries, you can also order bags of Janjou’s signature coffee, which features notes of blueberry and cocoa.
Janjou Pâtisserie is located at 1754 W. State Street in Boise.
Jitters By Jayne
This local coffee shop was started in 2023 and is located at 208 N. 9th Street in Boise. The espresso is from Holderness Coffee Roasters out of Corvallis, Oregon and has a buttery body and a smooth chocolate finish.
The shop was started by Lexi Jayne and she was 20 when she started her own business. Her true passion is coffee and the shop is a great place to grab a drink with friends or set up shop and work for a few hours.
If you don’t want to sit and stay a while, you can order your coffee online and take it to go.
Zero Six Coffee Fix
This place is a coffee shop with a bit of a twist. Every coffee you get they give a little back to the community through donations and discounts for all first responders.
The shop has funky seating options (like a super cool hand chair that you can see here) and a pair of fun pink chairs that look super comfy.
Zero Six Coffee Fix is open every day bright and early. The address is 404 E. Parkcenter Boulevard in the River Quarry at Parkcenter shopping area.
